On the right side there was rust repaired too, but again not up to my standards, so I'll fix that too.

Oh my goodness, I didn't see this before!

Sometimes I'm not in the mood to cut or clean. So I do some technical stuff. Here is the front beam. Since I installed discbrakes there should be a brake booster. This brake booster is going to be on the front beam, but that is where the steering damper is too. No problem: I created a mounting point on the left side of the beam for the steering damper.

The floor in the bus was not in the same condition as when it left the factory! I have new Volkswagen floor panels, so the old floor panels will be removed and replaced. The cargo floor cross members under the floor will be replaced too, all of the old will be cut away.

I put new floor over the old one, just to see if it fits, and it fits great!

When I cut the floor out it became easier to do the conversion to IRS. First the original engine out. The back of a 1303 chassis is the donor.

The parts needed for the IRS conversion. The gearbox is a type1 gearbox from the 1303 with code AT.
At this point I still had plan to bold on this gearbox, but -as mentioned- the plans changed over the years.

The old gearbox out and also the torsionbars removed. Those are not going to be reinstalled.

Before installing the IRS setup some cleaning had to be done. The bumpstops do have no function with the IRS setup and all that does not have a function should be removed, right?
